In an effort to eliminate corked wines, top Bordeaux estate Chateau Margaux has been investigating the use of screw caps. It would certainly take away some of the romance of uncorking a bottle of wine, but would solve the problem. I’ll take a screw cap if it means my $750 bottle isn’t corked.
The 2011 California grape harvest was down significantly from previous years. 47 million cases to be exact. This could lead to higher prices, particularly for bulk wine.
