Online Value

The great news that’s come out of this so-called Great Recession for us oenophiles is the untold number of values that can be found in the market today. Bottles that once sold for $50 or more can be found marked down to $30. And those in the $20-$30 range are in the teens. With so much choice in the market, the consumers are at the wheel.

To help you find these deals, I want to take a moment to share a few websites that I’ve found recently that showcase drastically reduced wines. The format varies, but generally the sites post wines – some daily – that are drastically reduced – usually in the neighborhood of 40-70% off. When wines are ranked by critics, the websites typically post those reviews as well. I’ve put the websites below with a brief description of each.

If you’re new to wines, or looking to try new ones this is a great avenue to take. Additionally, if you typically shy away from wine in the upper price ranges as most of us do, these sites provide a great opportunity to make these premium wines a real possibility. Please send your feedback in the comments section and let me know what you think.

Cheers!

Cinderella Wine:

http://cinderellawine.com/ The sister site of http://www.winelibrary.com, this site posts a new discounted wine each weeknight at 9pm. If the wine sells out, you’ll see a pumpkin (hence “cinderella”) and have to wait until the next night. You’ll see all types and prices of wines. Email updates available. Free shipping varies – sometimes free on one bottle, sometimes 6 must be purchase for free shipping. Absolutely phenomenal customer service (real humans!).

Wines Until Sold Out (WTSO):

http://www.wtso.com Posts a new wine each time the previous bottle sells out, up to three times per day.  All types and prices of wines. Email updates available. Free shipping amounts vary, though typically 4 bottles ship free.

Wine Woot

http://wine.woot.com/ A subsection of the site woot.com which sells various consumer items, this site is similar to those above. New wines posted every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Monday’s wine deal is available all week long however on http://wine.woot.com/monday.

The Wine Liquidator:

http://www.thewineliquidator.com/ No games here. Just a typical website with many wines through which you can search by type of wine, or region. All wines are reduced, however! 3 bottle minimum order.

Whats up with Snooth.com? I saw a link to it on epicurious.com and it looked sort of legit. Like a little wine community where you can buy wine and find new food recipes. Lemme know what you think.

Good question! I’ve never truly poked around on their site as much as I probably should have. It does seem to be a good community they’ve created with some good reviews. I wonder if anyone else out there has checked it out.
